Registering Your Business with
the Department of Building & Capital Projects:
All contractors must be registered with the Palmetto Bay Building Division before obtaining a building permit. In order for a contractor to register we will request valid copies of the following documents:
- State License or Certificate of Competency
- Occupational License
- Qualifier Driver’s License
- Liability Insurance

Workers Compensation
- Contractor Registration Form
Both, the Workers compensation and the Liability insurance, must be sent directly from your insurance agency. The policy must also show the Village of Palmetto Bay as the certificate holder.
These documents may be faxed, hand delivered or mailed to us.

*You must provide the correct permit number, job address, and type of inspection, name and contact number. All Valid inspection request submitted before 3:00 P.M. will be scheduled for the next business day. Inspection requests can also be faxed in to our office, the number is (305) 259-1291. Should we discover an issue with your request we will attempt to call you back at the contact number and explain why we cannot perform the required inspection? Issues range from having an unpaid re-inspection fee, expired permit, expired worker’s compensation insurance and or expired liability insurance. |

School Concurrency Update: Effective January 1, 2008, all local governments in Miami-Dade County, including the Village of Palmetto Bay are required to facilitate a new State of Florida mandated requirement to ensure that adequate student capacity is available at public schools to meet the future demands of new residential development. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OWNERS OF A BUILDING OR STRUCTURE THAT IS FORTY YEARS OR OLDER : Under Section 8-11(f) of the Miami Dade Code, as adopted by the Village of Palmetto Bay, the owner of a building/structure that has been in existence for forty (40) years or longer is required to have the building inspected for the purpose of determining the general structural condition of the building and the general condition of its electrical systems.
