About the Department of Planning, Zoning and Building

The Department of Planning, Zoning and Buildingis comprised of three divisions: Building and Permitting, Code Compliance, and Planning and Zoning.

The Building and Permitting Division is responsible for the processing of all building permit applications, timely review of plans, issuance of building permits, field inspections and issuance of certificates of occupancy as appropriate for all building permit applications to ensure conformance of construction in the Village with governing building codes.

The Code Compliance Division is responsible for educating the public on the Village’s code regulations and enforcing those regulations to preserve and enhance the aesthetics of our residential and business areas. The Code Compliance Division also presents cases to the Special Master when citations issued by a code officer for code violations are appealed.

The Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for guiding the development of the Village’s first Comprehensive Plan and providing technically sound and professional recommendations to ensure strict adherence to the Village’s Land Development Code, Comprehensive Plan, and other concurrency regulations. The Division provides assistance to the public with general zoning information and prepares recommendations on zoning applications. The Planning and Zoning Division presents items to the Village Council at Land Development Hearings.
