THALLATA ESTATE CALL FOR PUBLIC ARTIST
Palmetto Bay’s public art program seeks an artist or artistic team to execute artwork for Thalatta Estate, a Village Park located along the shoreline of Biscayne Bay. The project provides an opportunity to develop a public art piece that creates a strong visual identity, and contributes to the overall experience and perceptions of the site in a memorable way. Submittal deadline is March 14, 2011 for this Request For Qualifications (RFQ). FEB 15, 2012
MOSAIC; OBELISK PROJECTS APPROVED BY COUNCIL Two new pieces that were approved by the Palmetto Bay Council, June 7: the construction of an obelisk to meet AIPP requirements at a traffic circle at Richmond Drive and Galloway Road; and a stunning glass and tile mosaic at the at Coral Reef Park concession facility. - OBELISK - The obelisk designed by BBC Engineering will serve as the "canvass" for a public art component planned for the Village’s newest traffic circle. At present, proposals are forthcoming.
- MOSAIC - The Mosaic in glass and tile at Coral Reef Park’s new concession stand, entitled, “Optical Illusion,” is designed by Cuban artist Nora M. Cervino of Miami, reputed for her unique paintings, mosaics, drawings, and photographs:
