Councilmember Larissa Siegel Lara extends a "thank you" to the sponsors that made the first Unique Abilities Fair- Jonathan's Day event a huge success.  This was the first event of its kind, uniting families with children of all abilities to join in some outdoor fun!  A special word of thanks goes out to those families and all the guests that took advantage of a great day at the beautiful Coral Reef Park.

Village-wide Strategic Plan

Humane Society Outreach...Councilmember and animal advocate Larissa Siegel Lara shares news of a free service by the Humane Society. Low-income qualified residents may now obtain free spay/neuter services for their cats at the Miami-Dade County Community Spay Neuter Clinic at 10700 SW 211 St. in Cutler Bay. "Good Government" Training...Councilmember Siegel Lara is accepted into the latest class of public officials to participate in “Leaders of Excellence” training, which provides a “nuts and bolts” perspective on government. Program is offered through former County Commissioner Katy Sorenson's Good Government Initiative. JUN 10, 2015

Village Update at PBBA ... Thanks for joining the Councilmember April 2 as she presented the monthly "Village Update" before the Palmetto Bay Business Association (PBBA) at Christ Fellowship. The meeting's keynote speaker was Andrew Hertz, General Manager of Miami Seaquarium. Monthly Networking Luncheon is the first Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. APR 2, 2015


Biography

Larissa Siegel Lara was elected to Council Seat 3 on November 25, 2014. Larissa and her family have called Palmetto Bay home for 17 years. She and her husband Pablo have 4 children: Emma, 18; Julian, 14; Andy, 7; and Agustin, 5. Larissa was drawn to the area's diversity, parks, and great schools.

Larissa is a global business leader with a proven track record of successfully leading teams to attain results. She is results-oriented, with broad experience in program management, service delivery and administration, as well as technology implementations. She has a keen understanding of processes, strategic and critical thinking, and the value of collaboration and team building.

Larissa earned her Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. She has also completed PhD coursework in Industrial Engineering at the University of Miami.

Councilwoman Siegel Lara was sworn into office on December 1, 2014, as the Councilmember representing District 3.

 

 


Accomplishments

She enjoyed a 17 year career  at Burger King Corporation, with various roles, including Vice President of IT Operations, Vice President of Global Business Services and Vice President of Management and Training. She also held various engineering roles at IBM and Motorola.

She has been involved in various community organizations, including Big Brother and Big Sisters, Habitat For Humanity and The Education Fund’s Teach-A-Thon. A strong advocate of leadership development, she served as vice-chair for Burger King's Women's Leadership Forum and as chair of the WLF’s Mentoring Program. She is a member of the Women’s Foodservice Forum.
