Thanks for joining us Nov. 7 for Palmetto Bay’s Twilight Color Run. Participants who either ran or walked the course, but be prepared to be sprayed at color stations with the same type of colored powder used in the Indian celebration of Holi. Other News

Thank you to all who turned out for the Costume & Cocktails Party.  The party was held on Halloween Night, Saturday, October 31st, 2015, at the Thalatta Estate Haunted Mansion.  Guests enjoyed a frighteningly fun night of great food, dancing and a few scares!  Read more about our Costumes & Cocktails party here.

Movie Night on October 30th at Coral Reef Park was a huge success....Kids of all ages brought their scary and silly costumes to Coral Reef Park on Friday, October 30th, 2015 to watch The Book of Life and enjoy some treats.  Residents voted for The Book of Life above other movie choices, including: Haunted Mansion, Hocus Pocus Corpse Bride, Hocus Pocus, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Tennis Pros Honored for volunteerism...Kara Borromeo and Leroy Pettis, Palmetto Bay's resident pros at the Coral Reef Park Tennis Center, are the co-recipients of the August 2015 “Volunteer of the Month” award for volunteering their time to junior tennis players in the Miami area, and their support of Junior Team Tennis and Team Tennis Challenges. July Fourth Event... More than 8,500 fireworks spectators joined us during our Independence Day Celebration in Downtown Palmetto Bay, July 4. They also enjoyed great food, music, and games and contests. JULY 4, 2015

Education Series ... The last in a Spring series of Educational Lectures, "Natives for Your Neighborhood," took place May 21. Details on all Thalatta Estate programming -- as well as booking information for your next big affair, is on our Thalatta events website. MAY 14, 2015

Playing Field Sod ... The southern-most playing field at Coral Reef Park is now up to par with the rest of CCP, as the the "green" space between the tennis courts and SW 152 St. has been re-sodded. APR 25, 2015

Earth Day 2015 ... Earth Day is so big in Palmetto Bay it takes a full week to celebrate. Villagers enjoyed a wide range of green activities, free to the public. See more on the "Village Green" website. APR 19, 2015

Service Animals ... Other than Perrine Wayside Dog Park, domestic pets are not allowed in our parks – with the exception of service animals that to accompany with disabilities. Please be patient if our staff must ask you, however, as there have been multiple abuses of the ADA law. NOV 06, 2014

Coral Reef Park Video ... Palmetto Bay's Village parks video series launched last fall with a destination piece on Coral Reef Park. Narrated by Summer Camp Counselor Neal Simmons, the Ludovici Park feature is set for a January release. See photos recently shot during production. JAN 4, 2013

About Parks and Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the planning, organizing, supervising, directing and administering of all activities related to parks and recreation, special events and community outreach programs.  The Parks and Recreation Department manages the Village of Palmetto Bay system of local and regional parks which create a compilation of beautiful park facilities.  Ranging from serene to active, educational to recreational, and relaxing to exercising, the parks offer a myriad of rewarding activities for all to enjoy.

The "Village of Parks" is home to seven recreational facilities, including the beautiful Charles Deering Estate and Bill Sadowski Park, which are managed by Miami-Dade County.


  • Organize and implement special events, home games and tournaments in our park facilities and village-wide.
  • Seek sponsorships and donations for programming, special events and enhancement of parks.
  • Expand in-house/outsourced recreational programming for youth, adults and seniors.
  • Encourage the cooperation between the Village and neighborhood schools regarding use of respective recreational facilities.
  • Improve operational efficiency and effectiveness; including delivery of services; strategic expenditures and opportunities to increase revenues.
  • Maintain a high level of park maintenance with well trained and motivated staffing and effective maintenance programs.
  • Expand the park system by identifying potential properties for to acquire for recreational purposes.
  • Continue to assess park amenities for possible upgrades to be presented via the Capital Improvement Program
