Garbage Collection Services

Residents are asked to set out cans up to 30 gallons and tied plastic bags no later than 7 a.m. on your collection day.

Garbage includes materials such as food scraps and household materials that are unsuitable for recycling. Please make sure to dispose of syringes, lancets and other sharp medical utensils in rigid, puncture-resistant containers, like a soda bottle. Replace the cap tightly before placing it in your garbage receptacle. Additionally, broken glass, tools and other sharp items should be wrapped in old newspaper or paper bags and the item should be labeled “CAUTION.”

Obtaining EZGo Carts

You can purchase an additional 96-gallon waste cart or request a new cart if it has been damaged during the collection process or stolen. To request an additional cart for a one-time $50 fee, complete the order form  and fax it to 305-514-6219.

If your waste cart is damaged in the collection process, the County will repair or replace it free of charge. If it is damaged due to neglect, abuse or modification, you are responsible for purchasing a replacement cart. Stolen carts must be reported by calling the non-emergency number of your local police department. The County will provide a free cart if you provide a police case number.

For additional information about automated garbage collection service, the County offers information via a helpful FAQ section on this subject.

Curbside Recycling

Miami-Dade County provides recycling collection to single-family homes, duplexes, tri-plexes and some cluster homes. The curbside recycling program uses convenient "single-stream" recycling, which means that you'll no longer have to separate your recyclable materials. Every household receives one 65-gallon wheeled cart where you can place all of your recyclable materials together for every-other-week recycling.

The biggest advantages of our single-stream program are that you no longer have to separate your recyclables and you can now recycle more types of paper products. Recycling has never been easier! Visit the County website for information on how to obatin replacement bins, etc.
