Council Meetings

Monday, May 4, 2015 - 7 pm
Local Planning Agency Meeting/Public Hearing

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY, SITTING IN ITS CAPACITY AS THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY AND AS THE LEGISLATIVE BODY OF THE VILLAGE, will hold a public hearing prior to the Regular Council Meeting on May 4, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., at Village Hall, 9705 E. Hibiscus Street, Palmetto Bay, FL.

PLEASE NOTE that the Village Council will conduct a public hearing and second reading of the Ordinance immediately following the meeting of the Village Local Planning Agency.  The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the adoption of the following Ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY, FLORIDA, RELATING TO ZONING; AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP TO REFLECT A DISTRICT BOUNDARY ZONE; CHANGING A PORTION OF 15840 SW 89TH AVENUE, BEARING FOLIO NUMBER 33-5028-000-0191, CHANGING .27 ACRES (+/-) OF THE TOTAL 1.76 ACREAGE FROM AGRICULTURAL TO SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT, CODIFICATION, SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. THE APPLICATION MAY BE AMENDED BASED UPON THE REQUEST OF THE APPLICANT PRIOR TO THE PUBLIC HEARINGS OR MAY BE AMENDED AT THE PUBLIC HEARINGS PRIOR TO FINAL DECISION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL. ALL SUBMITTED PLANS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW AT THE VILLAGE’S PLANNING AND ZONING DEPARTMENT.

The proposed ordinance may be inspected by the public at the Village Clerk’s Office, 9705 E. Hibiscus Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. Interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing or provide written comments to the Village Council.  All persons who are disabled or need special accommodations to participate in this proceeding should contact the Village Clerk’s Office (305-259-1234) not later than four (4) business days prior to such proceeding (Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990).

If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Village Council, with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, that person will need a record of the proceedings and, for such purpose, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made; such record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based (F.S. 286.0105). 

Regular Council Meeting/Public Hearing

The Village of Palmetto Bay shall be conducting a regular Council meeting on Monday, May 4, 2015, at approximately 7:00 pm. The meeting shall be held at the Village Hall Chambers, 9705 E. Hibiscus Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157.  During this meeting, the Village Council will hold public hearings to consider the following items:

The following Ordinance shall be heard on second reading:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE VILLAGE COUNCIL; CREATING STANDARDS FOR ESTABLISHMENT AND REVIEW OF VILLAGE COMMITTEES TO BE INCLUDED IN THE VILLAGE CODE OF ORDINANCES AS CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE II, DIVISION 3, ENTITLED “BOARDS OR COMMITTEES”; PROVIDING FOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT, CODIFICATION, SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. The Village of Palmetto Bay shall be conducting a Town Hall Meeting/Budget Workshop in anticipation of the 2015-16 Fiscal Year at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Village Hall, 9705 E. Hibiscus Street, Palmetto Bay, FL.

The Village of Palmetto Bay shall be conducting a Special Council meeting on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 6:00 pm., at Village Hall, 9705 E. Hibiscus Street (Zoning Hearing to immediately follow). The purpose of this meeting shall be to consider the following items:

1. Discuss/determine the criteria for the Village Manager position, the criteria for the Executive Search Firm, and potential selection of the Executive Search Firm; and
2. Traffic calming initiatives (Councilman Tim Schaffer).

Sunshine Meetings

The Village of Palmetto Bay shall conduct a public meeting on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 3:00 p.m.  Although this is not a meeting of the Village Council, Council Members may attend at their option.  No official action will be taken.  The meeting shall be held at the Village of Palmetto Bay Municipal Center, 9705 Hibiscus Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157.  Discussion and public input will be welcomed concerning the Village’s application for the 2015 Florida Recreational Trails Program Grant.

Downtown Redevelopment Task Force Meetings

The Downtown Redevelopment Task Force (DRTF) encourages homeowner associations and/or other civic groups to obtain accurate, up-to-date information about the downtown redevelopment initiative in Palmetto Bay by scheduling a “roadshow” presentation by Village staff and Task Force members. The DRTF, an advisory group organized by the Village Manager in early 2013, is comprised of 40 neighbors and professionals. They are working to set the foundation for a live/work/play Downtown District along U.S. 1 in the Village's southwest corner, while preserving the fundamentally residential nature of Palmetto Bay.
