PALMETTO BAY, JUNE 6, 2012 -- South-Dade experienced a sudden severe weather event this morning. Multiple downed trees and power lines kept Village Public Works crews, police, and County workers busy through the morning. By 2 p.m. all problem areas had been cleared, which initially included:
- A power line down at SW 89th Ave. & SW 159th Street. Village Police were on site to manage traffic flow while FPL repaired the lines.
- A traffic light was out at SW 87 Ave & 152 St. Temporary stop signs were immediately put in place while FPL conducted repairs.
- Northbound traffic light on US-1 at East Hibiscus St. was out. Miami-Dade County workers addressed this problem area while FPL conducted repairs.
- Village crews removed a downed tree along the roadway at 9428 SW 183 Terr. The tree was cut up and all debris was removed by 2 p.m.
Upon canvassing roadways throughout the Village, crews reported no further problems.
