News & Information
- There have been reports of suspicious activity throughout the area with regard to solicitations of money for the Haiti relief effort. Be aware of bogus claims for money to be sent to sick residents, friends, and family members. Seek out only bonafide charitable organizations and/or follow County updates.
- Please report suspicious activities by calling 911 in the event of an emergency or the non-emergency police number 4-Police (305 476-5423).
- Police provide Fingerprinting for Kids, a unique program that would provide a valuable tool to aid authorities in their efforts to locate missing children. See coverage of an August 2009 Fingerprinting event, which includes what the “take-home” ID cards look like.

Crime & Incident Reports
In response to resident requests for fast access to timely information, the Palmetto Bay Policing Unit provides a weekly "Crime & Incident Report," issued every Monday at about noon (or Tuesdays following a Monday Federal holiday) . About the Policing Unit
The P almetto Bay Policing Unit was conceived through an interlocal agreement between the Village of Palmetto Bay and Miami-Dade County. The Department officially began its operations with the Village on July 14, 2003. Charged with the primary responsibility to protect, the Department is fully committed to ensuring the safety and well being of the Palmetto Bay community, emphasizing community-oriented policing and traffic safety. The Department is responsible for maintaining order and providing for the safe and expeditious flow of residents and visitors upholding the values of integrity, respect, service, and fairness. The daily operations and administration of the Department are overseen by the Village Commander with the assistance of a Police Lieutenant.

Village Commander
The Village Commander serves as the "Chief" of our Police Department, supervising the Village's sworn officers and civilian employees dedicated to serving the citizens of Palmetto Bay.

Department Goals
The goals of the Police Department are as follows:
To create a safer Community through the interaction of the Policing Unit with special enforcement activities

To further enhance the rapport between the Policing Unit and the citizens of Palmetto Bay.

Reduce the chances of a resident falling victim to burglars
