NOTICE OF INVITATION TO BID #: 2010-PW-101
TRAFFIC CALMING IMPROVEMENTS

The Village of Palmetto Bay is currently soliciting bids for Traffic Calming Improvements consisting of Traffic Tables and the Realignment of an Intersection.

Sealed bids will be received by the Village Clerk at Village Hall, 8950 S.W. 152 Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157, no later than 2:00 p.m. on or before Friday, September 3, 2010, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud in the main conference room of Village Hall located at 8950 S.W. 152 Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. To be considered, all interested parties must request and purchase a copy of the bid documents and submit an original and four (4) copies of the required information and documents in one (1) sealed package clearly marked with the bid title. Late submittals and facsimile submissions will not be considered. The respondent shall bear all costs associated with the preparation and submission of the response to the bid. A bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bid must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.

A mandatory, pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Edward and Arlene Feller Community Center at Ludovici Park, 17641 Old Cutler Road, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. Bid documents may be obtained on or after Monday, August 16 th, 2010 after 8:30 a.m. at Village Hall. A $30.00 non-refundable deposit per set of documents is required, made payable to Village of Palmetto Bay.

The Village reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, to terminate the process at any time (and recommence it at a later time from the beginning), to waive any informalities or irregularities in any submittal, to award in whole or in part to one or more respondents or take any other such actions that may be deemed in the best interest of the Village.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
2010/2012 Palmetto Bay Sculptural Garden

(DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES – September 3, 2010)

 

ABOUT THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY:
The Village of Palmetto Bay is one of Miami-Dade County premier suburban residential community located just 30 minutes south of Downtown Miami adjacent to Biscayne Bay and Biscayne National Park. The Village is approximately nine (9) square miles with an estimated population of 26,000 residents.

ABOUT THE SCULPTURAL GARDEN:

The sculptural garden is the latest addition to the Village.  The sculptural garden will be located adjacent to the New Municipal Center currently under construction which will be the first platinum LEED certified public building in the State of Florida. The sculptural garden is also perpendicular to the Village’s principal commercial corridor and is walking distance to the bus way and Palmetto Bay Park.  The exhibition space consists of three individual green quads please refer to (site plan). Artwork will be installed October 4 – 13 of 2010 and remain on site until April 2012.

HONORARIUM:A $3,500 honorarium will be provided for each selected artwork.  Participants are responsible for delivery, installation, and pick-up of artwork. 

ELIGIBILITY:

·        All artists, galleries, museums/non-profit arts organizations, foreign Cultural Institutes and private collectors are encouraged to apply.

·        A maximum of five (5) sculptures for consideration per artist. 

TENTATIVE TIMELINE*:

September 3, 2010:  Applications due

September 7, 2010:  Selections made by Art in Public Places Advisory Board – up to 5 sculptures and 2 alternates October 4, 2010:  Village Council review and approval of selections

October 5 - 8, 2010:  Selected artists notified

October 18 - 27, 2010:  Installation of exhibition

April 2012: Deinstallation of exhibition

TBD:  Exhibition dedication

GUIDELINES:

·         All sculptures MUST be properly anchored in accordance with the Florida Building Code.

·         Artworks should be constructed of durable materials that are able to withstand the harsh weather conditions of the South Florida (high winds, rain and extreme high temperatures).

SALE OF ARTWORKS:

·         Artworks can be sold, but not removed for six months once installation is completed. 

·         If a sculpture from the exhibition is sold, a replacement artwork must be submitted for approval.  The replacement piece MUST be installed at the same time of the removal of the original piece, NO EXCEPTIONS.  The artist or representative is responsible for all installation/deinstallation costs associated with the replacement sculpture for the exhibition. 

·         One replacement per site may be made during the exhibition period. 

·         Additional honorariums will not be paid.

·         The Village of Palmetto Bay does not take a commission from the sale of artwork.

THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY WILL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:

·         Regional, and local advertising

·         Lighting/maintenance

·         Onsite insurance
