The South Dade Transitway Corridor project is part of the Miami-Dade County Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan. As part of the project, a new Bus Rapid Transit system will be built along the corridor.
During the Summer of 2021, the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works began their pre-construction activities, which included clearing and grubbing, tree removal/relocation, surveying, geotechnical and environmental testing, and construction of temporary facilities to facilitate future phases of construction for the Bus Rapid Transit station project. Project locations include NE 2nd Drive/Civic Court, Marlin Road, SW 152nd Street/Coral Reef Drive, and SW 177th Avenue/Krome Avenue.
The 20-mile TransitWay stretches from the SW 344th Street Park & Ride terminal station in the south to the Dadeland South Metrorail station in the north.
