Appointing a Treasurer & Depository
IMPORTANT: Aspiring candidates MUST file a completed Form DS-DE9 (PDF) "State of Florida Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository for Candidates" with the Village of Palmetto Bay, Village Clerk PRIOR to opening a campaign account, or receiving campaign contributions, or making any campaign expenditures. A candidate may be his or her own campaign treasurer or deputy treasurer.
Your campaign depository must be a bank, savings and loan association or credit union authorized to do business in the State of Florida. The account may be entitled "(Name of Candidate) Campaign Account." This account must be separate from any personal or business accounts. All monetary contributions received must be deposited in the campaign account within five business days of receipt. Only the campaign treasurer or the deputy campaign treasurer may sign campaign expenditure checks.
File Your Statement of Candidate
Within ten days of opening a campaign account, candidates MUST complete Form DS-DE "Statement of Candidate" and file it with the Village Clerk. Once the form has been filed, you may begin to collect and spend campaign funds.

To get started and BEFORE opening your bank account, you will need to file the following documents with the Village Clerk.
Candidate Agreement for Electronic Filing of Campaign Treasurer's Reports
Voter Registration Card
Driver's License or other ID showing primary residence
Further information will be required during the qualifying period which begins at noon on August 5, 2024 and ends at noon on August 16, 2024. The above is to start the process in order for the candidate to open a campaign account.
