Seat 2 - David Singer


David Singer was born and raised in Miami, Florida.  He and his two sisters, Caren and Jennifer, attended Coral Reef Elementary, Palmetto Jr High and Palmetto Senior High Schools.  David then attended and graduated from Florida State University in 1985.   He came back to Miami and attended University of Miami and graduated in 1988. Both of his sister’s, along with his mother, currently reside in Atlanta, Ga.

David Singer is Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Berkowitz Development Group. He is directly responsible for all of the accounting, financial and day-to-day operations of the company.  Councilman Singer joined Berkowitz Development Group in November of 1998, bringing with him over 15 years of prior Real Estate knowledge, including property management, leasing, accounting, and acquisition experience.

His real estate career started with Kenneth Leventhal & Company, a public accounting firm specializing in real estate. His tenure of five years included engagement of real estate audits, the preparation of tax returns and feasibility studies. After leaving public accounting, he proceeded to work as a Controller and Chief Financial Officer for various national and local real estate developers and management companies including Lincoln Property Company, The Brandon Company and Cushman and Wakefield.

David Singer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing with a minor in Psychology, from Florida State University, and a Certificate of Accounting from the University of Miami.  He presently holds active Florida Certified Public Accounting License, Florida Real Estate Sales License, is on the FSU Real Estate School Board of Directors and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

David Singer and Gina Terry have three children ranging in age from 9 to 23 years old.  The children are Daniel, 23 years old, step son Ryan Terry, 19 years old and Jeremy, 9 years old. 


Councilmember David Singer was sworn-in on Monday, December 5th to hold the office of Councilmember for Seat 2 of the Village of Palmetto Bay, which represents the area bound by SW 152nd Street on the North to SW 168th Street on the South (not including Royal Harbor Yacht Club and Paradise Point), from US 1 to Biscayne Bay.  The swearing-in ceremony marked the first day of his 4-year term.  See the Community News story or find more information about the elections on our Election 2016 page.  We congratulate Councilmember David Singer on his election!

David Singer is also a member of the PTA and voted to the EESAC. 

The Educational Excellence School Advisory Council (EESAC) is the sole body responsible for final decision making at the school relating to the implementation of the components of the School Performance Excellence Plan. The EESAC's function is to bring together all stakeholders and involve them in an authentic role in decisions which affect instruction and the delivery of programs.
