FEMA Flood Zone Designations
Following are definitions of each flood-zone designation in our area. Please note, the number adjacent to the symbol indicates the Base Flood Elevation for the respective zone.

Zone | Description |

VE | 100-year floodplain with wave action, with BFEs determined. |
AE and A1-30 | 100-year floodplain, with BFEs determined. |
X-500 | 500-year floodplain (0.2% annual chance of flooding) |
X | Outside 100-year and 500-year floodplain |
- Definitions of FEMA's Flood Zone Designations
- BFE = Base Flood Elevation
- 100-year floodplain means there is a 1% annual chance of flooding at or above the base elevation
- FEMA states there is a 26% chance of flooding over the life of a 30 year mortgage for structures within the 100-year floodplain
