Traffic Circle @ 168th Street and 82nd Avenue

Project Description:

Following the approval of the required county permits, Palmetto Bay, in partnership with Miami-Dade County, started and completed the construction of the traffic circle at the intersection of SW 82nd Avenue and SW 168th Street/ Richmond Drive.

Besides the constructions elements of the project, the circle has been beautified by an original art piece created by local artist Xavier Cortada as part of the Village's Art-in-Public Places program.  The name of the piece is "Flower Force" and it was inspired by the great array of native wildflowers in South Floriida.

Project Scope:

  • Removal of traffic signals
  • Construction of a traffic circle to include drainage
  • Paving and Striping the road
  • Incorporation of bike lanes
  • Upgrading pedestrian ramps to current standards
  • Installing signage and pavement markings
  • Installation of Pedestrian Crosswalks with refuge island
