PB Police Commander Guerra Promoted to Major

Congratulations MAJOR Maria Guerra!  The Commander of Palmetto Bay's policing unit, "Mari" Guerra has been promoted to the rank of Major by the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Major Guerra started her career in law enforcement in 1989 and over that span of time has earned more than 60 commendations.  She has been part of the elite North Side Crime Suppression Team and in 2003, was promoted to Lieutenant while serving in the Narcotics Bureau.  She then became the first female K-9 Lieutenant in the Miami Dade Police Department.  We were fortunate to welcome her to our Palmetto Bay Policing Unit in 2015.
This past October, Village Manager Ed Silva named then Lieutenant Guerra as Commander of Palmetto Bay's policing unit, replacing Major Gady Serralta, who now serves as U.S. Marshall of the Southern District. Guerra's  official promotion to Major followed in early November.  We are so proud of her and ALL members of our Palmetto Bay Police.
