News Update_final

We’d like to make residents aware of an incident that evolved over the weekend, involving two 7th graders at Southwood Middle School. On Sunday, a teacher at the school received a social media message threatening violence towards the school, herself and her family. The teacher alerted police who launched an investigation. According to Miami Dade Police, the suspects, aged 12 and 13, confessed and were arrested. One of the students is from Cutler Bay, the other from Miami. The arrests were made last night, Sunday February 10th. School operations ran normally today and without incident. Police remind us that all threats, regardless of age, are taken very seriously and will be prosecuted.
