The Village Parks & Recreation Department will host its annual Earth Day Event-Bike-B-Que on Saturday, April 13th from 10am-2pm at Coral Reef Park (on the SW 77th Avenue park entrance). This event will be full of activities including: an escorted, scenic 5-mile bike ride in Palmetto Bay, animal encounter, food, inflatables, DJ, a canal clean-up aboard kayaks, bike rodeo, arts & crafts and so much more!
Participate in the bike ride and your BBQ meal will be FREE. Event goers will also have the opportunity to experience and meet many nature & "green" based groups/organizations. All those interested in participating in the bike ride, will need to register online at http://www.123formbuilder.com/for…/earth-day-bike-b-que-2019 before the deadline -Thursday, April 11th at 2pm. Helmets and bike locks are required for the ride. ***This ride is not recommended for children under age 10. After the ride, patrons will have access to lock their bikes on bike racks.
For those not participating in the bike ride or just looking for something a bit more relaxing, event-goers are encouraged to bring their blankets and chairs and enjoy a beautiful day at the park listening to music and participate in some of the other fun activities offered at the event. BBQ meals will be available for purchase for $5. Meal includes: hot dog or hamburger, chips, cookie, corn, potato salad and beverage.
There will also be onsite sign-ups for Coral Reef's canal clean-up at the Nature Postings tent. Two sessions will be available for the clean-up. The clean-up aboard kayaks will be first come , first serve. Space is limited.
