As of Monday, August 21, 2017, the traffic circle was opened to vehicular traffic during peak hours (Monday through Friday between 6:45 – 9 am & 4 – 6 pm to allow for the flow of traffic now that the school year has started. This week, all underground drainage improvements have been completed along with the majority of the concrete work with the exception of bike ramps and the required curb and gutter. The pending concrete work will be completed this weekend as far as weather permits.
IMPORTANT: Next week, milling work, adjustment of the manholes and drain lids will begin. Starting on Wednesday, August 30th and through Sunday, September 3rd, the circle will be closed and there will be no vehicular or pedestrian access during this 5-day period. Access to the circle will not be permitted for safety concerns as the milling and paving work will be underway. The contractor will make every effort to complete the work as soon as possible, event working under inclement weather conditions if necessary, as long as there is no danger to the workers.
Please pay close attention to travel lane closures and detours which you can find on the project Detour Map (MOT). You are also requested to exercise caution when workers and heavy equipment are in operation. Obey all posted signs and speed limits and allow extra time to reach your destination. We thank you again for your patience during this period. If you wish to learn more about how to use a traffic circle, check out this video from the Florida Department of Transportation!
