[ARCHIVED] Reminder that Permit Fees are Waived for Hurricane-Related Repairs

PB Logo-White Background

Last week, the Village announced that permit fees for repair work related to Hurricane Irma in residential properties will be waived for a period of 60 calendar days.  Bring photos of your damage, your homeowner's insurance claim report or other document to verify the hurricane damage and take advantage of the waiver before it expires at 4:30 pm on November 16th.

To qualify for the fee waiver, the proposed work must be for residential properties, must be related to Hurricane Irma and the permit application must be submitted to the Village by the expiration date and time. By Florida law and statutes, the actual building permit and/or required inspections cannot be waived.  Documentation of the hurricane damage is also required.  You can bring photographs of the damage, a document from your homeowner's insurance company describing the damage, a signed statement by your licensed contractor or copy of the proposal referencing the hurricane damage, a report from your licensed architect or engineer, or any other such documentation of the damage caused by Hurricane Irma.

Simply complete a Permit Application with your signature or that of the contractor, and bring the form to Village Hall along with all other required documentation.  Visit our Building & Permitting webpage for more information about the permitting process and to download any other required forms, or contact us at 305-259-1250.  We're here to help!
