For the second year, Village of Palmetto Bay Councilwoman Cunningham has partnered with Village Police Department and local swim school, Ocaquatics, to collect and distribute backpacks and school supplies to local schools in Palmetto Bay.
"I am pleased that for the second year we have been able to work to distribute backpacks and supplies to the counselors at the local Palmetto Bay schools.", said the Councilwoman. "There is a common misconception that there is limited need in our schools because of the area in which we live, but many families go through tough times. Every child should be able to start the school year with new supplies."
The backpacks were distributed on August 15th to grateful school principals at Coral Reef Elementary, Howard Drive Elementary, Dr. Henry E. Perrine Academy of the Arts and Southwood Middle School.
