In a press conference Saturday night 4-06-2019 from Village Hall, the Mayor announced the following:
"We have confirmed that the individual suspected of breaking into Village Hall late Wednesday night is now in custody and being processed. Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, Miami Gardens police identified 38-year old Marceline Holdson early this afternoon inside the North Dade Regional Library on Northwest 183rd Street.
This is wonderful news for our entire community. Prompt action by our policing units and other police departments resulted in the quick apprehension of the suspect. This is a testament to the professionalism and ability of our police officers. I'd like to thank them personally for their hard work. Our entire staff deserves recognition for quickly turning things around and allowing village hall to open the following morning.
I want to take this opportunity to remind our residents that our community is a safe community and we will ensure that it remains that way. As I said before, this was an isolated incident and unfortunately, it was our community that was affected. But we know based on the actions of our unit that Palmetto Bay will not tolerate criminal activity and we will make sure that the law prevails. We will remain vigilant to ensure your safety. Rest assured that crime has no place in our village."
