From Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham:
“We’re so sorry that a Palmetto Bay family has lost its beloved pet to what appears to have been a coyote attack. We have reached out to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on the matter and will be updating residents via social media platforms and our website, palmettobay-fl.gov. The FWC tells us that coyotes are found in all 67 Florida counties. While coyotes are generally frightened of humans, it’s recommended that pets be kept and fed indoors and dogs should be walked on a short leash. Also, be sure to keep garbage cans securely closed."
