Councilwoman Cunningham was one of four local and state elected officials to sit on the Women in Politics Symposium for Miami-Dade College. One of many panels organized by Miami-Dade College Homestead Campus highlighting women to celebrate Women's History Month, Cunningham joined State Representative Holly Raschein, Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner and Florida City Commissioner Avis Brown.
"MDC has a special place in my heart," said Cunningham, who graduated from Miami-Dade College in 1983 before attending University of South Florida. "I was proud to be asked to return to share my successes and the lessons I have learned along the way with young men and women at MDC interested in pursuing careers in politics."
The Homestead Campus is located in the historic downtown district of the City of Homestead and the 18-acre campus delivers a full-range of educational programs to its community. The symposium was attended by over 100 students, the College's President, Dr. Jeanne Jacobs and several campus professors.
