VOPB Education Brochure_Page_12_202105101319300928

PB'S EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE WANTS YOU! If you desire to volunteer or be involved in your community, join the Education Advisory Committee. The Village of Palmetto Bay is accepting applications for prospective committee members such as the EAC.

Purpose/Mission: The Education Advisory Committee formerly known as the Educational Compact Advisory Board entered into an Education Compact with Miami Dade County Public Schools via Resolution 2013-63 on September 9, 2013, to bring together each organization’s collective resources for the benefit of the students and residents within the Village.

Members of the Education Advisory Committee are appointed by Palmetto Bay Village Council. This committee serves the Village by reviewing and supporting the terms of the Education Compact that was entered into between the Village and Miami-Dade County Public Schools and is bound by the State of Florida Sunshine Laws. This board meets, at a minimum, the last Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall Municipal Center.

Membership/Qualifications: The board shall consist of five (5) citizens of the Village. Each member of the Village Council shall appoint one person to the board. The prospective appointee must be a resident of the Village, be knowledgeable about the Miami Dade County public school system; may have children in public school – elementary, middle, or senior high; may be involved in the applicable parent-teacher association; or other good cause.

Residents interested in applying to serve on the EAC must provide a resume, a list of qualifications including the submittal of an Advisory Board/Committee Application to the Office of the Village Clerk at: clerk@palmettobay-fl.gov. The application can be obtained from the Village Clerk or on the Village website at: www.palmettobay-fl.gov.

For additional information and/or inquiries, please contact Missy Arocha, Village Clerk at (305) 259-1234, or via email to: clerk@palmettobay-fl.gov.
