Many of our community's seniors have asked about the Age-Friendly Initiative that I sponsored in January, 2017. I am proud to announce that we have finally received our certificate showing that we are working on our Age-Friendly designation.
On February 13th, I met with the local and state representatives for the initiative. Our next step will be to move forward will be to establish our Age-Friendly Task Force and begin meeting to discuss the survey data that we have from the community survey and have them make recommendations on priorities and a plan of action can be presented to the Council.
I am working to make sure that our seniors feel that they have opportunities for social inclusion, participation and programming that promote active aging and keep our seniors connected to the community. Beginning in May, on the first Thursday of every month, we will have a Senior Game Day. I will be providing lunch on the first Senior Game Day, with the Village providing lunch during the remaining months. I look forward to working with our Village Manager and volunteers to bring our retired community members some fun activities and programming while getting to know other seniors in the community. Save the dates and look for more information in the weeks to come!
