Special thanks to the amazing advocates in Mangowood who have worked diligently to advocate and bring community consensus for a solution to the dangerous situation on SW 82nd Avenue and 148th Drive. Based on your advocacy and meetings with Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), Village Council and the Village Manager, the first step of this project was moved forward as Village Public Services placed LED lights in the existing walkway. In addition, in an effort to prevent signs from being knocked, down at the 82nd Ave and 148th Drive crosswalk, delineators were installed as a temporary measure until flashing lights can be installed. Plans should be ready in the next one to two weeks and the Manager will be requesting expedited approval from the county. Installation of the remaining modifications/enhancements will take place without delay upon issuance of the permits. That said the work may well on it's way within the next 4-6 weeks.
Thanks to Robin Bachin, Bill Richards, Kerry Sheridan, Rob Slazas, Leanne Tellam and the Mangowood Association Board for keeping this project on track. Your small group of hardworking residents put the safety of our children and families first and worked with neighbors and staff to reach
community consensus. #PalmettoBaysGotTalent
