The Village is monitoring Hurricane Helene, which reached Category 1 status today and is forecast to make landfall at the Florida panhandle on Thursday evening (Sept. 26). At the moment, the impact on the Palmetto Bay area is expected to be minimal; we have a 5-10% chance of tropical-level winds and a forecast for 2-4 inches of rain, which could increase to 6 inches.
Based on current information, Village of Palmetto Bay facilities and parks are planning to operate as usual tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the weather, however, and will post updates if conditions change.
We urge everyone to use extra caution if you go outside during inclement weather. We also encourage you to use our Street by Street app to report clogged storm drains, downed trees, and other road issues. Our Palmetto Bay Connect app allows you to receive a wide variety of Village news, including alerts related to storms and flooding. Both can be downloaded from our website by following the link provided.
Stay safe, Palmetto Bay!
